A glimpse of what we did in Joburg. Port Elizabeth will bring its own city stories, landmarks, and hidden corners on foot.
Get to Know Your City
Port Elizabeth is best discovered slowly, street by street, where heritage buildings, city viewpoints, and old civic landmarks still shape the way the city feels. This urban hike follows a route that connects some of Gqeberha’s most iconic sites, with pauses for stories, photos, and a few quiet surprises along the way.
A morning for curious minds, easy pace walkers, and anyone who loves discovering a city best on foot.

Stories of Durban - Durban Point
A Story Told on Foot
We meet at Lincoln Café, then step into the city’s historic fabric, moving at an easy pace with time to notice what most people pass on the way to somewhere else. The route follows Lower Valley Road toward the heart of Port Elizabeth, passing places like Tramways, Wozani Arts and Craft, and Fort Frederick, where the city’s older layers still sit close to the surface.
From there, we explore civic and cultural landmarks such as the High Court, The Athenaeum, and 7 Castle Hill, with a scenic pause at the Donkin Memorial, a viewpoint that always changes the way you see the city. We then descend toward St Mary’s Church and the Old Library, continuing along Baakens Street past familiar names like City Hall, Feather Market Hall, and the Post Office.
The final stretch loops across Produce Street, returning over the bridge behind Tramways and back to where we started. Throughout the hike we keep it relaxed and social, with planned stops for photos, water breaks, and moments to soak in the city’s story.
Not a race. Not a lecture. A guided urban hike led at a steady pace, with space to listen, look, and see Port Elizabeth with fresh eyes.
About the Hike Leaders
Your hike leaders will be Juan and Sonja from Let’s Go Hiking Port Elizabeth. Depending on numbers, Jean Marc may also join to help keep the group supported and together. All hike leaders are first aid trained.
