A Story Told on Foot

Ready to fall in love with Cape Town on foot? We start in St George’s Walkway and move through the heart of the Mother City, past grand landmarks like the Castle of Good Hope, through the Company’s Garden, and into markets where stories sit in the open. Along the way you’ll hear about a villain, a hero, and why we say never again. Then the city shifts as we climb into Bo Kaap, where pastel houses practically ask for a selfie, spices hang in the air, and the call to prayer carries through the streets.

It’s two journeys woven into one, history, culture, quirky details, and the kind of local flavour that makes Cape Town feel alive. Not a lecture, not a race, more like walking with a friend who knows the streets and the stories. This is an invitation to slow down, listen, and see the city with fresh eyes.

Who It’s For

  • Cape Town locals who want to see their city with fresh eyes
  • Visitors looking for something more grounded than a standard tour
  • Runners on a rest day
  • Friends, families, and colleagues who want a shared Sunday morning out

No racing. No pressure. Just moving together at a social pace.

About the Series

After the success of Stories of Joburg, we’re bringing the same spirit to Cape Town, new streets, new textures, new stories.
These Urban Hikes are organised by Mountain Runner Events, created in partnership with Merrell, to help more people get outside and discover what’s right in front of them.
